The challenge

As one of the UK’s leading children’s reading charities, BookTrust delivers nationwide programmes, research and resources to support families, educators and policymakers. Since 2016, Ave has been one of a small number of preferred design suppliers, supporting the organisation in delivering a wide range of printed and digital communications.

BookTrust needed a design partner who could work flexibly across formats and audiences, from campaign collateral to policy briefs, while maintaining consistent brand application and ensuring materials were accessible, efficient and impactful.

The requirements

Over the course of our relationship, we’ve delivered a wide range of work, including:

  • Annual reports and impact reports
  • Campaign and sub-brand identities
  • Print and digital toolkits
  • Infographics and illustrations
  • Audience-specific factsheets, guides and touchpoints

We’ve worked within and helped shape evolving brand guidelines, often adapting or developing templates to keep costs low and improve internal usability, all while maintaining the clarity and warmth that defines BookTrust’s identity.

At BookTrust we have worked with Ave for several years. We value the collaborative approach as we tackle complex briefs together culminating in high quality assets to show our research and impact. Ave’s focus on attention to detail in our more detailed or copy heavy projects is invaluable to us. The team at Ave are friendly, approachable, flexible and seem to truly love what they do.

The solution

Our work with BookTrust is defined by consistency, collaboration and a shared commitment to making every touchpoint count. Whether designing hero documents like the annual report or rolling out factsheets for schools and practitioners, we focus on clarity, accessibility and visual storytelling.

We’ve helped the team navigate brand updates, technical shifts and changing audience needs, ensuring their materials remain relevant, trusted and effective. From highlighting impact data to celebrating stories of real-world change, our design work continues to support BookTrust’s mission to get children reading, and keeping them reading!
